One child is dead and four others are in serious condition after a Saturday morning wreck involving three vehicles in Huntsville.

An adult female also is in serious condition after the wreck that happened about 6:29 a.m. on Glenn Hearn Boulevard near the Huntsville International Airport.

Two additional patients were taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Huntsville Police Department and Don Webster of Huntsville Emergency Medical Services Inc.

Investigators believe a vehicle attempting to get back on I-565 from the emergency lane may have led to the accident, according to Huntsville Police.

The investigation is ongoing.
