TUESDAY IS A 31 ALERT DAYÂ
Strong to severe storms are likely on Tuesday across the area. Damaging wind, large hail and a few tornadoes will be possible. The remainder of the week will be cooler, but also quiet, following Tuesday's storms.
We'll stay cloudy into tonight with only a slim chance for a shower or sprinkle. It will be breezy and mild with temperatures only dipping into the upper 60s.
Tuesday will start off with a few morning showers. By afternoon strong storms are expected to move across the area. The strongest storms will reach the Shoals between 2 and 3pm, the Huntsville/Athens/Decatur area around 5-6pm, and Sand Mountain between 6-7pm. The threat of severe weather should be out of the entire area by 9-10pm. Damaging wind is the primary threat, but large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible. Temperatures will reach the mid 70s ahead of any storms.
Cooler, but calmer conditions will return on Wednesday and we'll stay dry the rest of the week. High temperatures for the second half of the week will run mostly in the upper 50s to low 60s with overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s.
We'll stay quiet and begin to warm back up again over the weekend.
