Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood says a death investigation is being conducted after a dead man was found on the side of a road on Monday.
The body of the male victim also was badly burned, Norwood said.
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said the body was found near the intersection of County Road 222 and County Road 294 in the Chicken Foot area.
The identity of the victim is not yet known.
The victim will be transported to Huntsville for autopsy.
