"Forget the stork. We brought the fire truck."

Athens Fire & Rescue just shared they helped a mother with her newborn baby!

The fire department says they were dispatched Friday morning to a possible woman in labor on Strange Street.

When they arrived, crews found a woman had just given birth to a baby girl.

The fire department says Engine 1 crew - Hunter, Levi, and Joel - tended to the baby and mother. They suctioned the baby and clamped and cut the cord. Then, they wrapped the baby in a towel, observed the baby's condition, and let the mother hold her.

EMS transported them both to the hospital afterward.
