An autopsy on Christina Nance, the 29-year-old woman found dead in a van in the Huntsville Muncipal Court complex parking lot Thursday, found "no foul play was involved in the death nor any findings of trauma."
That's according to Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill. He said the official cause of death is pending further investigation, including a toxicology report, by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
An officer discovered Nance's body in a van, which police said is not currently in use, about 9:15 a.m. Thursday. The Huntsville Police Department released more details on the van Tuesday.
A department spokesperson said police purchased the van in May 1995 to transport inmates. When the Madison County Sheriff’s Office took over all detention services in the early 2000s, the van was repurposed. The van was last used in March to transport evidence approved for destruction from cleared cases, police said.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance video to try to determine when Nance entered the van in the parking lot.
