Three people face multiple charges after leading were arrested Tuesday for multiple charges.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old D’ Marques Glover of Birmingham, 32-year-old Raishean Mccoy of Birmingham, and 22-year-old Derrick Pledger Jr. of Bessemer were all charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, attempting to elude, and marijuana II.
The sheriff’s office says units attempted to make contact with individuals occupying a vehicle in a closed business parking lot Tuesday in the Courtland community. After this attempt, deputies say a vehicle pursuit ensued throughout the county as well as across multiple counties.
With assistance from surrounding counties, deputies say units were able to quickly relay information, stage units at upcoming intersections, and deploy spike strips which ultimately brought the pursuit to a stop near the intersection of Highway 157 and Laney Road in Morgan County.
Once the vehicle became inoperable, deputies say the occupants of the vehicle ran away but were located and apprehended without further incident shortly after.
The sheriff’s office says agents later recovered a quantity of methamphetamine in excess of half a pound, believed to be discarded from within the vehicle during the time of the attempted traffic stop.
The three individuals were taken to the Lawrence County Jail with bonds set at $262,500.
The sheriff’s office says agents with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office VICE/Narcotics Unit were assisted by Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies, Morgan County Drug Unit, Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies, and Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies during the vehicle pursuit.
