The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles has confirmed that Michael Pruitt was the man arrested Wednesday following an hours-long standoff with Decatur police.Â
According to jail records, the 46-year-old has been charged with obstruction-parole violation.
The ABPP also released some more details Thursday, saying the Decatur Field Office received information Wednesday that a mandatory supervised release individual was threatening a family with a gun.
The ABPP says their officers met with Decatur Police Department officers and went to the individual's residence on Oak Lea Road in Decatur.
Upon arrival, the individual, now identified as Pruitt, was in the driveway and then barricaded himself inside the residence.
At one point during the standoff, Pruitt fired a round inside the residence.
Through conversation with a Probation and Parole officer, Pruitt exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident at 8:30 p.m.
