A suspected methamphetamine dealer is in custody after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says it caught him using a fake name.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy saw a vehicle run a stop sign on Friday and make a traffic stop. The driver gave the deputy a Tennessee driver license and said he recently bought the vehicle from a man named Waylon Holte.

The deputy released the driver then ran Holte’s name in the system, discovering Holte had an active warrant for trafficking methamphetamine. The deputy found a picture of Holte, which the sheriff’s office said matched the face of the driver with the Tennessee license.

The deputy then found the vehicle again, stopped it, and took Holte into custody.

He’s now also charged with obstructing justice using a false ID.

Bond was set at $250,000.

Jail records show Holte was released Friday night.
