Quad Brown named QB1 for Alabama A&M's game against Auburn

has won the starting quarterback job at Alabama A&M, at least for now.

“He’s doing the little things and moving the chains,†Bulldogs head coach Connell Maynor said of the selection on Tuesday. “It was a tight battle but we’re happy with everybody.â€

Brown, who previously played at , has seen limited playing time in the last several years. Brown’s last full season came as a member of Georgia State in 2020 when he threw for 2,200 yards with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has not recorded a passing touchdown since.

While Brown is listed as QB1 on the Bulldogs’ depth chart for Week 1 against Auburn, Maynor said both and will “probably†also see action against the Tigers.

“What I tell the guys [is], ‘If you’re starting, you got the first chance to mess up.’ Quad going to get to run out there first and we always say we’re going to play the best man when the best man is the best man,†he said. “It isn’t over, at any position, we just have starters for this game.â€

Brown, along with Smith and Lankford, will try to start things on the right foot when the Bulldogs get the 2024 season started against the Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
