Day three of jury deliberations in the capital murder trial for LaJeromeny Brown wrapped up Thursday without a decision on a recommendation for his punishment.
Brown faces death or life in prison without parole for killing STAC Agent Billy Clardy III back in 2019.
We saw the jury once Thursday in the courtroom when the defense attorneys called for a mistrial.
The defense claimed the identity of up to six jurors were shown publicly on a local TV news station.
The judge then asked the jury if anything occurred that would impact them from serving on this trial.
The jury said they felt no external pressure and they returned to deliberation.
The judge did order the TV station to remove that video from their website. (WAAY is not the station at the center of the controversy.)
As deliberations continue, its worth noting that a unanimous verdict is not needed to sentence Brown to either the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
Ten of 12 jurors must agree to the death penalty, while only seven must agree for life in prison.
Deliberations continue Friday morning at the Madison County Courthouse.
