Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Meteorologist Grace Anello spent her afternoon at Chaffee Elementary School in Huntsville Monday!
Meteorologist Grace met with 140 kiddos Monday in both first and fourth grades.
In first grade, with the help of "The Cat in the Hat", we talked all about the weather conditions we see all over the world, including rain forests, jungles, the arctic, deserts, and the tropics. We looked into lightning and thunder and talked about hail formation, as well. These students were so sweet and energetic and they asked wonderful questions!
In fourth grade, we talked less about weather patterns and more about specific weather phenomena such as tornadoes, rainbows, and snowflake formation. These students came in with questions prepared and wanted to know all about weather here in the Valley. They also asked what it is like to be a TV meteorologist and even what education Meteorologist Grace needed to get to this point. She was very impressed!
Of course in each class, we discussed severe weather and made a severe weather safety plan to help students know where to go to shelter from severe weather and why it is so important for them to do so. And it wouldn't be a Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é visit without sending everybody home with their own famous red Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é StormTracker backpack.
Chaffee, you're one in a million, thank you so much for a great afternoon!
