Overnight storms likely

Storms arrive tonight

A round of storms will move through the area overnight. Some severe weather is possible, but the overall risk is low. Strong wind gusts are the primary threat along with heavy downpours. Rain chances will go down for the weekend. Next week brings a brief shot of cool air early in the week that will likely bring another light freeze.

A few shower or storms may move through parts of NW Alabama this evening, otherwise expect a widespread line of showers and storms arriving after midnight and continuing into Friday morning. A few storms could be strong to severe. Temperatures will gradually fall through the 60s.

Friday starts off wet and stormy in the morning, but rain is expected to break up into the afternoon. Temperatures will warm into the upper 60s.

Saturday is trending dry and there's only a slight chance for a shower on Sunday. Temperatures over the weekend will stay in the 60s to around 70 for highs.

A shot of cooler air settles in early next week. Despite sunny skies, temperatures will only reach the 50s for highs. Look for some cold nights as well with Monday night bring a light freeze to much of the area.

Temperatures will bounce back later in the week with more rain possible.

TONIGHT: Scattered rain, storms. Level 1/5 risk for severe weather. Lows in the low 60s. Wind: SE 5-10 mph, gusts 20 mph.

FRIDAY: Morning rain and storms likely. Showers continue into the afternoon with highs in the upper 60s. Wind: W-SW 5-10 mph.
